The Trashy Princess - Miu Miu SS 2012

Miu Miu Spring/Summer RTW 2012
Miuccia Prada
Oct. 5, 2011 - Paris

"Mother, I will NOT wash my hair! I will NOT wear that dress!" objected young Anastasia with a stomp of her foot. She had been refusing to be a "proper young lady," as she was brought up to be. Anastasia saw that there was no point in being a Princess if she didn't have full contact with the differences between poor & wealthy and clean & filthy. So she started to rebel - slowly but surely - against her mother's wishes to be respectable by dressing a little sloppily, cutting her gowns in half, and not fixing her tresses here and there.
Laying eye-level to the dirt ground was the only means by which Anastasia learned what she really enjoyed was at the top of the tree - macaroons, silk ribbons, and afternoon tea.

my inspiration: The Prince & the Pauper's switch in societal status, and Alice in Wonderland's defiance against the rules set around her.

Human Presents - Isaac Mizrahi

 Isaac Mizrahi SS RTW 2012
Sept. 15, 2011

Talk about "presentation". Adorned in giant bows tied around these ballgowns' busts, waists, and hips, you can't debate that these models look the wrapped goodies you anticipate of opening on the days leading to Christmas (in this case, Easter or Mother's Day). Therefore, anyone who wears these  should feel like a limited-edition Barbie doll (very glamorous and envy-inducing indeed), Marie Antoinette in a blast to the decades of Queens, Kings, and detrimental cosmetics, or as if people around the wearer are expecting some unraveling later on in the bedroom with a significant other...

Would you wear this?

Badgley Mischka

Badgley Mischka Spring/Summer RTW
Mark Badgley and James Mischka

Sept. 13, 2011 - New York

“My, how dazzling you are, and you haven’t even put on your dress yet!” exclaimed the little girl to her brand new doll, which she had just dressed up for a a Hollywood red-carpet appearance. Gracing a princess bun, nude lipstick and gloss, and bright silver ballerina-wrapped stilettos, her little model of dreams was lacking the most important part: her long, easter egg purple, sunshine yellow, and fantasy purple tiered strapless gown of sparkling bows and ribbons. Ready to praise her recent movie, “What Can a Girl Do?”, the doll winked her diamond-smile at the paparazzi’s deprived cameras.

Author's note: This was my favourite show of the season, no doubt! Just look how classy and beautiful those ballgowns are; when I get the money I’m adorning myself in these dresses. I can't wait to be invited to the next wedding...
